The following are instructions for uploading family photos. Photos can be uploaded locally when connected to the home network (using Windows Explorer), or remotely across the Internet (using Secure FTP)


Local Upload - Windows Explorer

1. Click the Windows Start button and enter into the run dialog:

\\family\photos

Note: If you are asked to enter a username/password, enter "guest" as the username. No password is needed.


2. Now family photos can be uploaded and downloaded by simply dragging and dropping them into Windows Explorer.

Remote Upload - Secure FTP

To remotely upload photos, you will need to install a Secure FTP client, such as FileZilla Client (recommended) or WinSCP.

1. To download the FileZilla client, visit the following URL and download FileZilla: http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla/files/latest/download?source=dlp

  • This will download a file named "FileZilla_3.9.0.1_win32-setup.exe" (version may vary).


2. After downloading, please install FileZilla.

  • In the "Choose Components" portion of the install, please veryify that "Shell Extention" is selected. This will allow you to drag and drop files into FileZilla.


3. After the install completes, please reboot the computer.


4. Once FileZilla is installed, please start the program and enter in the following credentials to connect to the file server: (your username/password should have been provided already)

Family File Server:
host:     sftp://family.oeey.com
username: family
password: [PASSWORD]
  • Upload photos to the "/pub" (Public) folder.

5. You may get a warning about accepting the host key. Please do.

6. Now family photos can be uploaded and downloaded by simply dragging and dropping them into the window pane. (You may need to reboot your computer before drag and drop will work).
