Questions: What is the real differnce in the 500 vs the 590SP?

The 500 isn't really *one* gun....it's a system that uses a base model, the 500, with addons to make different guns for diff purposes. The 500 uses the standard 5+1 mag tube and barrel system. It's the most common by far and 95% of aftermarket addons/barrels etc were designed for it. You can switch barrels and accessories to get a gun for pretty much anything you want. The 590SP is a 500 with combat only in mind. It uses the 835 mag tube/barrel system which gives it three more shots, but aftermarket barrels aren't out there. It's a one game gun unless you revert it back to the 500 config.

Simply speaking, the basic 500 is the starting point and can be made into all sorts of different guns/configurations....the 590 is a "made" gun in a finished configuration.
