Clarifications

Ice Blade Upgrade

Ice Blade (BGG): (https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1623791/multiple-rules-clarifications-mostly-timing)

Q: The "Ice Blade" upgrade card states "+1 Dice and +1 Shield in Fights in your Space". Does this mean ALL fights in your space? (i.e. Do your teammates get to take advantage of this too?)

A: No, it’s only for fights where you are the active hero.

Hate Sin Card

Hate Sin Card (BGG) https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1623791/multiple-rules-clarifications-mostly-timing

Q: Does the "Hate!" sin card get discarded at the end of the round? Most people seem to do this, but it doesn't specifically say to.

A: Yes, Hate! Only stays in play for one round.

Haven's Last Stand - 4 Monsters to Win

Haven's Last Stand - 4 Monsters to Win (https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1623791/multiple-rules-clarifications-mostly-timing)

Q: During "Haven's Last Stand" if 4 monsters aren't alive to be marked does the Sin miss out on marking some, or can they mark the next X that are summoned?

A: The Sin player can only mark Monsters that are on the board. If there are fewer than necessary, then fewer will be marked.

Strategy

Defeat Turtling

  • Monsters can't move out of spaces with heroes in them so perhaps the Faith players need to work their turns so they're pinning monsters in place, or blocking any movement into the snuggle pile location
  • If we are talking about "kill monster X" type objectives:
    • Remember that monsters roll no defence whatsoever, so if a monster is a big fat 7/7, heroes need 7 hits irrespective of Sin rolls.
      • A hero at max corruption scores 4 auto-hits, and need only roll 3 hits to take out an avatar.
    • The heroes choose who the attack hits, so turtling does not protect a monster.
    • I think there are many people who play this like an RPG and try to keep their hero alive and at full health -- when the better play is almost always to take corruption, forced wounds via moving through monsters, and suicide runs. When played this way, we've had about a 60/40 win-rate for sin/faith, and that's with a more experienced sin player.
  • Orbital Lasers (Satellites) help clear out abominations and acolytes from Turtling
