			Utah's off-highway vehicle laws and rules have been formulated to promote safety and protection for people, property and the environment. Currently, a new pamphlet is available, fill out the form below, or check with your local park. The online version will be available soon.
			The information in this pamphlet highlights Utah's OHV laws and rules. It answers frequently asked questions about OHV activities on public lands, roads, and trails, and provides important contact information. Riders are cautioned that additional laws and rules apply to the operation of off-highway vehicles. 			If your OHV is involved in an accident:
			# Help other people involved in the accident.
			# Notify local law enforcement officers immediately by the quickest means of communication available.
			# Give your name, address and identification to any injured person or owner of property that is damaged in the accident.
			# If possible, submit a completed and signed OHV accident report to Utah State Parks within 15 days in the event anyone involved dies or is injured. A report is useful if combined property damage exceeds $750. OHV accident forms are available from Utah State Parks or any state parks ranger. Information in accident reports is confidential.

			Whether you're riding the salmon-colored sands of Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park or cruising along the groomed snow-packed trails of Wasatch Mountain State Park, we want you to ride safely and protect your riding privilege.

			Growth of our sport requires rider responsibility, including properly registering machines, learning and obeying OHV safety laws and rules, and sharing trails with other user groups including equestrians, hikers, mountain bikers, skiers and snowshoers.

			Your OHV registration fees go directly back into the sport. The $20.50 collected from each registration breaks down to:

			$13.50 for summer and winter OHV riding opportunities; $2 riding education; $2 for the DMV; $1.50 for school trust lands, $1 for transaction fees, and $.50 for search and rescue.

			:Your safety is our number one concern. Utah law requires youth, ages eight to 16 (or until they get their state issued driver license), to complete the Utah State Parks and Recreation Know Before You Go! OHV education course before operating on public lands, roads or trails. It is illegal for any child under the age of eight to operate an off-highway vehicle (OHV) on any public land.

			:The online youth OHV education course fee is $30 per student and must be passed only once. The certification covers ATVs, off-highway motorcycles (OHMs) and side-by-side ATVs (type II ATVs or UTVs). Once the test has been passed, you will have the opportunity to print out a temporary operator license that will be valid immediately; you will then receive your permanent operator license in the mail.

			:We strongly suggest that students thoroughly study the material prior to taking the test. If you take the test and fail, you will need to pay for and take the test again.

			:Safe riding; proper machine sizing; weight distribution; responsible and ethical riding; proper handling and shifting; and riding within your ability

			Utah has an estimated 80,000 miles of public trails designated for OHV use. It is your responsibility to know where you can legally ride before you go out on your adventure. Check with your local land managing agency for open trail use.
