Variants
6+ Players
The upcoming sequel to Sushi Go!, Sushi Go Party! will allow for 6-8 players. Among many other features, it allows you to essentially play the original game but with 2-8 players.
However, if you really want to try a 2 deck variant of the original game for 6-8, here's the simplest way to do it:
Play with 2 decks shuffled together. Maki rolls score 6/4/2 points for 1st/2nd/3rd. In 6 player games, deal 10 cards to each player per round. In 7 player games, deal 9 cards to each player per round. In 8 player games, deal 8 cards to each player per round.
While this works, it isn't completely satisfying, as you can have some imbalanced rounds based on what is dealt out from the (now humungous) deck!

"I did experiment with a 6-8 player variant which required two copies of the game to play. The only major rules difference was adding points for third place in the sushi roll scoring each round. In the end, it didn't seem exciting enough to warrant buying two copies. Although I may return to it at some point and post the rules.

In Sushi Go Party the points for ties are not split between players like in the original. Instead tied players all get the full amount. So this is the only way I have tested this scoring. I would say to use the original game's scoring style, the following would make sense: If 2 players tie for a placing in rolls scoring, the next placing below is not awarded. e.g. If 2 people tie for first, second place gets 2 points not 4. If 2 people tie for second, third is not awarded. Hope that helps!

Sushi Roll ties:
Add together the points from first and second place (9 points total) and evenly divide them among the players with the most sushi rolls. The player with the second highest number of sushi rolls receives the remaining points (if any).
EXAMPLES
- In case of a two-way tie for first, both players get four points. One point is awarded to the third place player (the one with the second highest number of sushi rolls). If two or more players are tied for third place, none of them receive points.
- In case of a three-way tie for first, all tied players received three points each. No points are awarded to the player with the next highest number of sushi rolls.
- In case of a four-way tie for first, all tied players receive two points each. 1 point is awarded to the player with the next highest number of sushi rolls.
Pudding ties:
- In case of a tie for the most/least puddings, divide points evenly among tied players, discarding any remainder.
EXAMPLES
- Two players tie for the most puddings = 3 points each.
- Three players tie for least number of puddings = -2 points each.
- Four players tie for most puddings = 1 point each.

2nd Place Maki Roll Rules

The Maki Roll rules are different. In the Gamewright version you can collect 3 points for 2nd place WITHOUT taking any Maki Rolls. The first edition specifically stated that you must take a Maki Roll card to score any Maki Roll points.
Personally, I like the first edition rules for Maki. I think it was just an accidental omission on the part of Gamewright, but hard to tell.
